Netflix confirmed on August 6, 2026 that Grown Ups 3 is in production in New Jersey. That statewide confirmation is solid. A complete public location list is not, and the gap between those two things is where most coverage goes wrong.
This note separates what production announcements and on-record municipal reporting actually establish from rumour, sightings and future set information. Checked August 8, 2026.
The short version
- Production start: production listings put principal photography at August 3, 2026. Netflix’s public cast announcement came on August 6. Those are two different dates and a lot of coverage has merged them.
- Municipalities with on-record support: Woodbridge, Madison Borough, Morris Township.
- Release date: none announced.
- Complete New Jersey location list: not publicly confirmed.
- Not only New Jersey: the production is also reported to be travelling overseas, including to Italy.
What Netflix has confirmed
The original group returns: Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade and, after sitting out the second film, Rob Schneider, alongside Salma Hayek Pinault, Maya Rudolph and Maria Bello. Julie Bowen, Deon Cole and Bailee Madison are the headline new additions.
Kyle Newacheck directs, from a script by Adam Sandler and Tim Herlihy. The logline Netflix has published is that with the kids now grown up, the gang is free to go on the ultimate adventure. The announcement gives no release date and no town-by-town schedule.
The Woodbridge, Madison and Morris Township reporting
Three municipalities have on-record support, and they are worth separating carefully.
- Woodbridge. Sandler and Chris Rock were reported filming in Woodbridge on Monday, August 3, the first day of principal photography.
- Madison Borough. The borough closed a portion of Green Village Road on August 6. Michael Pellessier, Madison’s director of operations, confirmed the closure was related to the production.
- Morris Township. Filming was reported at Rod’s Steak & Seafood inside The Madison Hotel.
The Madison Hotel is in Morris Township, not Madison Borough. Its name says otherwise, and at least one local outlet filed the story under its Madison section.
A road closure in Madison Borough and a filming location in Morris Township are two municipalities, two clerks, two police departments and two permit processes. Collapsing them into one “Madison” claim is the single most common error in the coverage of this production, and it is exactly the sort of error that sends a location manager to the wrong office.
What this page will not publish
We are keeping public locations at municipality level. No active-set addresses, no call times, no base-camp information, no crew or cast movements.
There is reporting in circulation naming a further New Jersey municipality and an approximate date for filming later this month, and a reported scheduled wrap date. We are deliberately not publishing either. A future shooting schedule is not location research; it is an invitation to turn up at somebody’s workplace. We will add a municipality once filming there is established on the record, not before.
Social posts, sightings and closure speculation can point a researcher in a direction, but they do not make a property or a town a confirmed filming location. A town gets added here when an official production source, the municipality, a property representative or reliable on-record reporting supports it.
Why this matters to New Jersey location teams
The first week of this production is a clean illustration of something that catches experienced people out: a single shooting day can touch more than one jurisdiction. Camera location, parking, holding, traffic control and base camp can each fall under a different municipal authority even when the places share a name, a postal identity or a regional shorthand.
Before scouting anywhere near a boundary like this one, confirm the actual parcel and the actual municipality, then contact that municipality about permits, police, fire, parking and right-of-way. Our New Jersey film permit guide covers the questions worth resolving before you file, and our production tracker carries the current status of this and other New Jersey productions.
Common questions
Is Grown Ups 3 filming in New Jersey?
Yes. Production listings put the start of principal photography at August 3, 2026 in New Jersey, and Netflix publicly confirmed the production and its new cast additions on August 6, 2026.
Where in New Jersey is it filming?
On-record reporting has connected the production to Woodbridge, to Madison Borough, and to Morris Township. That is not a complete location list, and this page does not publish active-set addresses or future production movements.
Is The Madison Hotel in Madison Borough?
No. The Madison Hotel, and Rod’s Steak & Seafood inside it, are in Morris Township. The name causes real confusion, including in local coverage, so verify the municipal jurisdiction rather than relying on a venue name.
Why was Green Village Road closed?
Madison Borough closed a portion of Green Village Road on August 6, 2026 for the production. The borough’s director of operations, Michael Pellessier, confirmed the closure was tied to Grown Ups 3.
When will Grown Ups 3 be released?
Netflix had not announced a release date when this page was checked on August 8, 2026. Any date circulating now is a projection, not an announcement.
Information about an active production changes quickly. This page reports broad, verified locations and does not provide access to sets, private property, cast or crew. Do not visit or interfere with an active production.
